News / Bands ready for battle

THE ANNUAL battle of the bands competition will return on Friday as up and coming talent takes to the stage.

The all-ages, non-alcohol event will be held at the Lerwick Legion and it will see acts including Sheer, Zdenka Mlynarakova and the One Man Disco Band perform.

The gig, which is now in its ninth year, is hosted by the Shetland Young Promoters Group.

The group’s head of marketing Chris Coles said that “Shetland’s music scene has always been hugely supportive of new bands and battle of the bands is yet another example of a brilliant opportunity for musicians to gain experience playing live.”

Anyone interested in entering can still do so by visiting the Shetland Young Promoters Group Facebook page for more information.

Entry is £5 and doors open at 7pm.
