News / Cancelled flight scuppers ministerial meeting

A MEETING between representatives of the local fishing industry and Scottish Office under-secretary Ian Duncan is to be rescheduled after the minister’s flight from Inverness went technical.

Lord Duncan and his team spent more than four hours at Inverness Airport until eventually learning that flight number LM0131 had to be cancelled.

A spokeswoman for the Scottish Office said the minister was disappointed, as he had been looking forward to meet with the local industry.

She said the meeting would be rescheduled for as soon as the diary allows.

Shetland Fishermen’s Association had been keen to discuss preparations for a “successful Brexit” when the UK becomes an independent coastal state and is able to control access to its waters from January 2021.

A spokesman for Loganair said: “The aircraft suffered a tech fault and they’ve had to cancel it.

“Passengers will be moved onto LM139 due to depart Inverness at 1715. Loganair is sorry for the inconvenience to passengers.”
