News / Drama group exhibition
AN EXHIBITION chronicling the history of Islesburgh Drama Group will take place at the Shetland Museum and Archives over the coming weeks.
From Page to Stage will go on display at the Lerwick venue’s Da Gadderie from 2pm on Saturday (17 February) through to 24 March.
On show will be photographs, costumes, props and scenery from the group’s 67-year history.
President Martin Summers said: “We are excited to reveal hidden treasures from our plays, musicals and our ever popular pantomimes.
“Often the public don’t get see all the work and countless amount of volunteering that goes into each of these productions. We hope this exhibition will take you behind the curtains, and give a small glimpse into our theatrical world.”
This exhibition has been supported by Lerwick Community Council’s Loot for Lerwick scheme, as well as local businesses, organisations and individuals.
Islesburgh Drama Group’s next production, meanwhile, will be held at the end of March.
Absurd Person Singular, directed and produced by Morag Mouat, will come to the stage at the Garrison Theatre in Lerwick between 28-30 March.
It follows the story of three couples who meet at a party – bank manager Ronald Brewster-Wright and his alcoholic wife Marion, architect Geoffrey Jackson and his emotionally-scarred wife Eve, and finally tradesman Sidney Hopcroft and his housework-obsessed wife Jane.
“Funny, gripping and wretchingly truthful, the play slices into the soul of suburbia,” the group said.
