News / Pedestrian dies following road accident

POLICE have confirmed that a 59 year old pedestrian died at the weekend – a few days after being injured in a road traffic accident involving a car on the outskirts of town last Tuesday morning.

Martin Gray, originally from Yell, had been treated in the Gilbert Bain Hospital before being airlifted to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, where he died on Saturday evening.

The collision on the A970 at Blackhill occurred at 11.25am on Tuesday within a 40mph speed limit area close to the junction with Gremista industrial estate.

The incident involved the pedestrian and a silver Mini Cooper car.

Police said enquiries were ongoing and asked that anyone with information who has not yet spoken to an officer should contact Police Scotland’s road policing unit in Dingwall by calling 101 and quoting reference NL178/18.
