News / Woman involved in ‘social supply’ of drugs

A WOMAN from Lerwick who admitted having amphetamine with a total street value of £2,000 in her home to sell to friends and associates has been warned there is a “very high possibility” she will be jailed.

Kayleigh Cassidy, of Hill Grind, appeared at Lerwick Sheriff Court on Tuesday to plead guilty to being concerned in the supply of the drug at her home address on 9 December. She had sentence deferred for social work reports to be prepared.

Procurator fiscal Duncan Mackenzie said police executed a search warrant at the 30 year old’s home and found 256 grams of the drug in a bag.

He said it would have a value of around £2,000 if it was broken into its smallest sellable amounts.

Mackenzie described Cassidy as being involved in a “social supply” of the class B drug to a “close group of friends and associates”.

Sheriff Philip Mann said it was a “very serious offence” which had a “very high possibility” of resulting in a custodial sentence.

He adjourned the case for social work reports until 23 November when Cassidy’s defence agent will make representation and he granted a crown motion for forfeiture of all items seized in the search.
