A FIRE appliance from Yell attended a kitchen fire on the island on Tuesday morning after a hot water cylinder overheated.

Two breathing apparatuses and one hose reel jet were used at the house on Greenbank Terrace, which was reported at around 6.30am.

Firefighters were there until 7.15am, while another appliance from Unst was stood down before it reached the scene.
