News / Hope jailed for number of charges

A MAN from Mossbank who admitted a string of charges including possessing a knife at the Gilbert Bain Hospital has been given an eight month prison sentence.

Adam Hope of Leaside, appeared at Lerwick Sheriff Court on Wednesday to admit three charges which took place in Lerwick on 26 August.

The 26 year old admitted smashing a car window at Pegasus Place, causing a dent in an external door at Unicorn View and having a knife at the hospital.

Sheriff Philip Mann gave Hope a total of eight months in jail which will run concurrently with a sentence he is currently serving.

Hope also pled guilty to driving without due care or attention on 1 August at the Trondra Bridge by driving at excessive speed and being unable to give way, causing oncoming traffic to take evasive action, before he collided with the roadside kerb.

He also admitted driving with no insurance and with a provisional licence while unsupervised and with no L plates.

Sheriff Mann disqualified Hope from driving for a year and fined him a total of £1,000, which will be converted into time in custody as he was given no time to pay.
