News / Local BBC reveals winter schedule
BBC RADIO Shetland has announced a wide-ranging line-up of winter programmes, with a number of topics set to provide something for everyone.
From Monday (2 October) the local station will be on air for an hour longer than usual to broadcast community interest and music programmes.
There will be the return of a number of old favourites, including Mary Blance’s The Books Programme, football show The Big Tackle and environmental programme Beyond The Briggistanes.
Music, meanwhile, will be heavily represented, with shows covering genres from Americana and folk to jazz, blues and metal.
“The winter schedule allows us to really improve what’s on offer to listeners,” senior producer John Johnston said.
“As well as our local news programme Good Evening Shetland – folk can now tune in to hear an incredible mix of music, sport, film, history and current affair programmes.
“Between 5.30pm and 7.00pm on winter weeknights, 92.7FM is the place to go to hear what’s happening in the community.”
More information about the station and its winter schedule will soon be uploaded to the BBC Radio Shetland Facebook page.
