News / Care scheme receives positive report
A LOCAL organisation that gives carers a break by providing support to around 40 people living in their own homes has been given a positive report by the Scottish Care Inspectorate.
An inspection of Shetland Care Attendant Scheme (SCAS) was carried out on 12 July and it has been given a ‘very good’ rating.
The care at home service was judged in quality of care and support, quality of staffing and quality of management and leadership.
Inspectors interviewed a number of people who directly benefit from the service, which was formerly known as Crossroads Shetland and is based at Market House in Lerwick.
No recommendations have been made for improving the service.
The report said: “The feedback we received about the service was very positive and highly complimentary about quality of care, staff and management.
“Thank you cards were received by the service. We confirmed how much people value the support provided.”
Chairman of the voluntary board of SCAS, Willie Henderson, said: “The board of SCAS are pleased that the first care inspection under our new structure is so positive and I congratulate our office staff and their team of support workers for their commitment which has resulted in this excellent outcome.”
