News / Lifeboat receives golden donation
THE CREW of the Lerwick lifeboat has expressed their gratitude after receiving a donation of £1,420 from East Yell couple Alan and Sunniva Leask recently.
Celebrating their golden wedding anniversary last month, the couple had asked friends and family that instead of giving them presents they make a donation to the Lerwick lifeboat’s thermal imaging camera fund.
Operation manager Malcolm Craigie said that thanks to the latest donation the Lerwick lifeboat was now only £4,000 short of its target of £20,000.
“We’re very grateful to Alan and Sunniva for this lovely gesture,” Craigie said.
“With the support and contributions we’ve had from many other people around Shetland we’re well on the way to raising enough to purchase this vital piece of equipment for the lifeboat.”
