News / Youth theatre auditions
SCOTTISH Youth Theatre is holding auditions in Shetland next month to find budding performers to take part in a year-long project which will culminate in a performance.
Auditions will be held at Mareel on Wednesday 18 October for people aged 16-25 as the organisation marks Scotland’s year of young people in 2018.
It is attempting to find people for its National Ensemble project from all corners of Scotland, with entry free and based purely on ability.
It will see those taking part attend monthly development weekends before they get involved in a performance in August.
Artistic director Mary McCluskey said Scottish Youth Theatre is looking for “creative, enthusiastic and dedicated young people”.
“Individuals who display the potential are the ones who will most benefit from everything the ensemble has to offer,” she said.
“As the ensemble is a collaborative experience, those with an interest in theatre-making in all its forms, including writing, directing and performing are encouraged to apply.
“The ensemble is an amazing opportunity for anyone who wants to study or pursue a career in theatre and performance.”
Those interested in taking part in the Shetland auditions need to register their interest online by 22 September.
