News / Vandalism & knife offences

A TWENTY six year old man who admitted two counts of vandalism and possessing a knife at Gilbert Bain Hospital on Saturday has been granted bail.

Adam Hope, of Leaside, Mossbank, pleaded guilty to the three charges when he appeared from custody at Lerwick Sheriff Court on Monday afternoon.

He admitted wilfully or recklessly destroying or damaging someone else’s property at Lerwick’s Unicorn View and also smashing the window of a car at Pegasus Place on Saturday.

Hope also admitted possessing a knife at the hospital later that day without reasonable excuse or lawful authority.

Sentence was deferred until 11 October for a criminal justice social inquiry report to be prepared.

He was granted bail with a special condition that he must leave Shetland within 24 hours and is only permitted to return when attending court appearances.
