News / ‘Serious but not life-threatening’ injuries after crash
THE FOUR people injured in a road crash near Voe in the early hours of Saturday – including a 12 year old boy and his mother – are described as having “serious but not life-threatening” injuries.
Each of the four – two men, aged 50 and 21, the boy and his 33 year old mum – have been taken to hospital for treatment.
The two-vehicle accident, at around 2.20am on Saturday (5 August), happened on the A970 north of Voe and resulted in the road being closed for around 12 hours.
The two cars involved were a silver Toyota Avensis an a black Vauxhall Corsa, and police are seeking witnesses to the incident.
It is understood that police intend to file alleged charges of drink driving and taking a vehicle without permission from a nearby hotel against the 21 year old involved in the incident.
Police said on Monday morning that enquiries were ongoing and anyone with information should contact Lerwick Police Station by dialling 101, quoting reference NL2825/17, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
