News / Man in hospital after motorcycle accident
A MOTORCYCLIST who was involved in a serious accident north of Brae on Thursday has been taken by air ambulance to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.
The 46 year old male motorcyclist came off his bike on the B9076 near the Voxter outdoor centre at around 5.15pm. No other vehicle was involved in the accident.
Police and the Scottish Ambulance Service attended. The Sumburgh based coastguard helicopter was then requested to airlift the casualty to Lerwick’s Gilbert Bain Hospital, where he was stabilised.
The helicopter touched down at the Clickimin landing site at just after 7pm, from where the man was transferred to hospital.
This is the second serious road traffic accident involving a motorbike in Shetland within three days.
