News / Sheriff Mann moves on
SHERIFF Philip Mann is due to leave the bench at Lerwick Sheriff Court in February next year after almost six years in the post.
The Judicial Office confirmed on Thursday that Sheriff Mann is to take up a post as sheriff at Aberdeen Sheriff Court.
Over the last six years Sheriff Mann had split his time between his duties at Lerwick and Banff sheriff courts.
The court service is already advertising for a 50 per cent part time resident sheriff for Lerwick, which comes with an annual salary of £66,753. Closing date is 11 May.
The job advert stipulates that the new sheriff has to reside within one hour journey of their base court.
A spokeswoman for the Judicial Office said: “Sheriff Mann will remain the sheriff at Lerwick until a replacement has been identified and takes up office. This is expected to take place around February 2018.”
