News / Beach cordoned off
A STRETCH of coastline in the Seafield area of Lerwick has been cordoned off after an old grenade was found.
Shetland Coastguard confirmed that the item, which has been described as “very rusty”, was spotted by a police officer at around 7.15pm on Monday.
Coastguard crew attended the scene to keep people away from the grenade before placing a cordon around it.
Royal Navy bomb disposal experts are expected to arrive in Shetland on Wednesday morning to deal with the grenade.
