Letters / A typical Lerwick view
I would take issue with John Fraser (“Ferry fares freeze“, SN 20/4/2017) and his claim that Shetland’s “other island communities” don’t need access to the facilities in Lerwick.
Why should a ferry fares freeze apply to Bressay only, as he has put forward? This is very typical of Lerwick councillors’ thinking over the years.
It is interesting to those of us that live in the north isles to hear people from Northmavine or Walls complaining of the Lerwick dominance of council decisions and the amount of centralisation taking place.
We have had to put up with these decisions for years.
Whatever happened to the mantra that you were a councillor for Shetland first and your ward second, or is this just another way to keep the isles’ councillors “in their place”.
