News / Charities claim Co-op cash
TWO local charities have benefitted to the tune of over £7,500 each after receiving money through the Co-op’s membership scheme.
Disability Shetland, which was recently forced to cut the hours of one of its staff in a bid to save costs, was given £7,734.
Mental health charity Mind Your Head secured £7,607 from the payout, which saw £9 million shared over 4,000 causes across the country.
Every time a Co-op member purchases an own brand product they receive a five per cent reward for themselves, with a further one per cent going to charities.
