SHETLAND party band Rack & Ruin are gearing up for a Scottish tour next month – and they’re inviting fans to come on the road with them.
The eight-piece Yell group will play a number of concerts in Aberdeen, Invershin and Orkney between 6-9 April.
Bus company R.G. Jamieson is organising a special return trip for any fans wishing to make the journey south to see the band in action.
Rack & Ruin was formed in 1994 by Barry Nisbet, David Spence, Kevin Tulloch and Martin Henderson and they originally took influence from the local Cullivoe style of fiddle playing.
They now feature an expanded sound, with covers of the likes of Johnny Cash and Steve Earle mixed with original songs and traditional sets.
“We’re working with Jamiesons to make sure that folk from home can join in the party too – no matter where we’re playing in the Highlands and Islands,” Nisbet said.
“It’s quite an unusual idea, but we’re delighted at the number of people expressing an interest in joining Rack & Ruin on tour!”
The band will kick off the tour at the Blue Lamp in Aberdeen on 6 April before heading to the Invershin Hotel a day later.
The octet will rack up two nights in Orkney: first at the Royal Hotel in Stromness, and then concluding things at Kirkwall’s Auld Motorhoose on Sunday 9 April.
