News / Offshore workers flown to Shetland after power loss
OVER one hundred offshore oil workers are being flown to Shetland after the Clair platform lost power on Saturday morning.
BP confirmed that accommodation will be made available on the isles for 105 staff members who were on the platform, which is located 46 miles west of Shetland.
The Clair platform, which was not in production at the time as it was undergoing maintenance work, lost power at around 5.45am.
As a precautionary measure, 105 non-essential staff were flown off the platform. A total of 144 people were working there at the time.
