TUESDAY’S Lerwick Up Hella Aa proceedings will again be broadcast to a global audience thanks to Promote Shetland.

The destination marketing organisation said it was ready for record-breaking coverage using ten cameras throughout Lerwick.

As well as the live broadcast of the procession and burning, presented by Davie Gardner and ex-jarl Peter Malcolmson, there will be live programming throughout the day.

Promote Shetland’s Andy Steven said: “It’s a massive undertaking, and one that’s taken months of planning.

“For the first time we’ll be streaming on Facebook Live from the Promote Shetland Facebook page as well as at uphellyaa.com.”

The feed will also be streamed by many media organisation ranging from Shetland News to Associated Press.

Steven added: “We’ve never used so many cameras or so many enthusiastic young local film makers, or been on air for so long.

“All of those involved are looking forward to bringing the planet’s greatest Viking fire festival to a worldwide audience.”
