News / Lottery funding for LGBTI work
A NATIONAL organisation which works to bring about equality and improve human rights for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender intersex people has been awarded Lottery funding to raise awareness in Shetland.
Equality Network has been given nearly £10,000 for a wider campaign to increase the understanding of LGBTI people, their social isolation and its impacts, in a number of rural areas in Scotland.
It will “run a roadshow, hold meetings and produce a video detailing shared experiences” as part of its proposed work in the isles.
The organisation will collaborate with the Shetland LGBT group and work is expected to take place in March and April.
The Cullivoe Hall in Yell meanwhile has been given £10,000 from the Big Lottery Fund to install a new heating system.
Lerwick Thistle Football Club also scored £672 from SportScotland to put towards new training equipment.
