News / Search for missing man
THE full-scale search for a missing man was stood down on Sunday night after the 26-year-old attended Lerwick police station.
Earlier on Sunday the man was seen to have swum ashore near Hay’s Dock after falling overboard from a speedboat off North Ness, at around 11.40am.
However, after concerns were raised as to his whereabouts later the same day, police requested the help of local coastguards teams, the Lerwick lifeboat and the Sumburgh based search and rescue helicopter to search the area.
The search was stood down at around 10.30pm.
