News / Lifeboat assists creel boat
THE Sumburgh based helicopter search and rescue 900 and the Lerwick lifeboat were launched on Saturday lunchtime after a small creel boat was in danger of hitting rocks near Broonies Taing, in Sandwick.
Shetland Coastguard was alerted just before half past twelve that the Cornucopia (LK372) had her gear fouled and was drifting towards the shore.
A small inshore boat, the Osprey, was also in the area and offered assistance.
The lifeboat managed to attach a line and first towed the 10-metre vessel into deeper water before bringing her alongside the Broonies Taing pier by 1.28pm.
