A NEW cafe has opened its doors in the former Viking Bus Station waiting room.

Natalie and Alan Ho, who own the Great Wall restaurant on the building’s upper floor, launched Teamore in Lerwick earlier this week.

The cafe features a range of items on its menu, from breakfasts to lunches and evening meals, while there is plenty of cake and drinks on offer too.

The premises had been closed for some time as it underwent extensive renovation.

Natalie and Alan Ho bought the downstairs area from Shetland Islands Council in 2014 with the view of eventually opening a cafe.

Natalie Ho said that business has been picking up at Teamore as word spreads about its launch.

“We’ve started with a day-to-day menu at the moment, but we’ll see if we can pick out what the favourites are going forward and build from there,” she said.

“We’ve got things like fish and chips and burgers, and you can’t go wrong with that.”

She added that people with time to spare before catching a bus have been happy to come in and buy a drink while they wait.

“There has been a few people coming in, and not just wanting to use the toilet,” Ho said. “They’ve been having a cup of tea, and that’s fantastic.”

A function room is also set to open and it will allow groups to hold karaoke nights.

Teamore is the latest food-related addition to the area, with the likes of Mareel, Jojo’s, Raba and Beberly’s close by, as well as the Great Wall.
