News / Helicopter lands safely after emergency at Sumburgh
AN EMERGENCY was declared at Sumburgh Airport on Wednesday afternoon after a CHC operated Sikorsky-92 helicopter reported a cockpit warning light coming on shortly after take-off.
Emergency services were alerted, as well as the Lerwick and Aith lifeboats, but the helicopter – believed to have had 17 people on board – landed safely at around 3.10pm.
The helicopter requested priority landing as it returned to Sumburgh Airport.
