News / South mainland power cut
A POWER cut saw just under 300 customers in Shetland’s south mainland lose electricity for a short time on Tuesday night.
Scottish & Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) said supply to 284 customers went off just before 9pm and the majority had power restored within 10 minutes after the company remotely switched the network via its Perth control room.
Engineers on site identified a faulty transformer and were able to restore power to the remaining 35 properties before 11pm.
