News / SEPA issues flood warning
THE SCOTTISH Environmental Protection Agency (SEPA) issued a warning of possible coastal flooding in Shetland during high tides on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.
The overall level of risk remains low, with a risk of minor impacts from spray and wave overtopping likely during the high tides, which will be coupled with strong westerly winds and a small storm surge.
High tides are 9.50pm for Scalloway and 11.25pm for Lerwick on Tuesday night, and 9.52am for Scalloway and 11.49am for Lerwick on Wednesday morning.
Effects are likely to be limited to areas that are historically prone to coastal flooding.
