News / Propeller problems
SHETLAND Coastguard was alerted on Tuesday afternoon after the offshore support vessel Nor Solan reported a propeller obstruction 70 miles west of Sumburgh.
The anchor handling ship had earlier tasked the coastguard over an injured crew member, who was airlifted to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary by the rescue 900 helicopter.
At around 3.30pm, the Nor Solan then raised the alarm again after a messenger line became stuck in its propeller.
Two other offshore support vessels assisted and helped to clear the obstruction before the Nor Solan headed to Scalloway on its own power.
