News / Rearo strikes £1m deal

SHETLAND-registered Scottish firm Rearo has secured a £1 million distribution deal with Meyer Timber for its bathroom wall panel product, Selkie.

The company, owned and managed by the Mercer family, has seven showrooms across the UK including one at Lerwick’s Staneyhill and is headquartered in Glasgow. The Mercers also own Rearo Supplies, the supplier of Calor gas in Shetland.

Rearo supplies and manufactures bathroom and kitchen surfaces and the company says it will now be able to make its full Selkie range available across England and Wales. Meyer Timber’s delivery service will make the product quickly available to trade customers and leading merchants.

The Selkie range will be distributed from Meyer Timber depots in Stoke and Tilbury, and Rearo estimates the deal will be worth up to £1 million a year.

Rearo sales and product manager Norrie McLeod said: “Distributing Selkie through Meyer is an excellent opportunity for us, it will increase Selkie’s exposure across the UK.

“Selkie customers will now be able to order the range and have it delivered much more quickly, which will be a great boost for merchants.

“Our distribution agreement with Meyer means we can reach the whole of the UK, quickly, and builds on our existing networks.”

Meyer’s group commercial manager Paul Holstead said: “Meyer has distributed Selkie shower panels successfully in Scotland for a number of years.

“Demand for shower panels in England and Wales is increasing significantly and we felt the time was right to now stock Selkie nationwide.”
