News / Oil rig crewman injured
SHETLAND Coastguard’s search and rescue helicopter was called out to a North Sea oil rig on Monday night after a 25 year old man was injured in an accident.
The semisubmersible rig Transocean Leader called the coastguard at around 7.30pm from the Kraken field around 90 miles east of Sumburgh.
The helicopter was already in the air on a training exercise, and it collected the casualty before flying him directly to Aberdeen for hospital treatment.
