News / Power off after pole fire

MORE than 200 properties in the south mainland of Shetland lost power on Tuesday after an electricity pole caught fire in Channerwick.

The incident occurred at around 12.15pm, with 217 properties in the Sandwick and Levenwick areas affected.

SSE said most customers had their power restored within 15 minutes, with the remaining 20 properties reconnected by around 3.20pm once equipment was replaced.
