News / Tavish wearing it pink
SHETLAND MSP Tavish Scott is “wearing it pink” in the Scottish Parliament to show support for Breast Cancer Now.
Joined by Orkney colleague Liam McArthur, the Liberal Democrat MSP is dressing in pink to encourage his constituents to take part in the “wear it pink” fundraiser on Friday 21 October.
It is the 15th year of the campaign, which calls on people to add a flash of pink to their wardrobe for the day to raise money for the charity’s lifesaving breast cancer research.
Around 4,600 women are diagnosed with breast cancer in Scotland every year, and around 1,000 die from the disease.
Scott said: “Breast Cancer Now’s cutting edge research is making a huge difference. But we all need to join forces and act now, to do our bit to stop women dying from breast cancer by 2050. That is why Liam and I are fully behind the charity’s ambition and support wear it pink.”
