News / Concert for CLAN
A CONCERT with a country hoedown theme will be held in Unst on Saturday night (10 September) in aid of CLAN Cancer Support.
A total of 14 acts will take to the stage at the Haroldswick Hall, including Tru Nort, The Hoedown Boys and Bryden Priest.
The event is being organised by Lorraine Thomson, who decided to hold a fundraising concert for CLAN as many members of her family have used the service in the past.
Based in Aberdeen, CLAN – which provides help for patients and families dealing with cancer – has a presence throughout north-east Scotland including Lerwick.
“My brother in law died of cancer two years ago, and my 28 year old nephew was diagnosed only last year with cancer but now thankfully has the all clear now,” Thomson said.
“Only last month my sister-in-law was diagnosed with cancer too. Many local friends have also had to stay in CLAN in Aberdeen and it is a very friendly, warming place with staff always ready to listen and help.
“Hopefully we can raise a bit of money to put towards CLAN.”
The event will kick off at 7.30pm.
