News / Legion turns into swirling mosh pit for Buffet

THIS year’s Heavy Metal Buffet rock festival got off to a flying start as a host of local and Scottish music acts got the mosh pit swirling at the Lerwick Legion on Friday night.

The venue was packed as headliners Semperfi, once again visiting the isles from Aberdeen, played their last ever gig.

It wasn’t all gung-ho metal, however, with Troppo Funk proving popular with a jamboree of groove at the smaller Selkie stage, while The Hostiles brought a ska-punk vibe.

The event, organised by local podcasters and promoters Heavy Metal Buffet, will hit the Legion again tonight (Saturday), with acclaimed Glasgow instrumentalists Vasa, the spunky Dirty Lemons and comedy-rockers Big Time Quell among the acts on the bill.
