News / Rugby recruitment

AN OPEN day will be held in Lerwick this weekend to encourage more people to join Shetland’s rugby teams.

Shetland Rugby Club is inviting budding players to attend the Clickimin pitch on Saturday to take part in training or to speak to coaches.

From 12pm to 2pm, men and women are encouraged to head down to the pitch to learn more about getting involved.

The club is particularly keen to hear from university students based on the Scottish mainland during term-time who could take part in away games.

Junior training for primary school boys and girls will take place earlier in the day at 10am.

At 11am, high school pupils will get a chance to speak to coaches, with training taking place from 11.30am.

Anyone who can’t make the time for their allotted group is encouraged to attend the event throughout the day to speak to club staff.

The club is also interested to hear from potential new coaches and helpers.
