Letters / Digital can never replace face-to-face
A far more friendly and effective life changing initiative for elderly folk (‘Life-changing initiative for the elderly’, SN 18/8/16) would be to send real live people to visit those who are alone and or housebound.
Digital technology can and will never replace real, live face-to-face human contact.
As being of an elderly age myself and, as it so happens, very au fait with modern digital communications and technology, a visit from a real live person face to face actually physically present in the same room as me is far more beneficial to both my physical and mental well being.
