News / Skerries suffers power cut
SCOTTISH and Southern Energy expects all customers on Skerries to regain power on Wednesday evening after a faulty transformer cut supplies in the morning.
All 59 customers on the small archipelago lost electricity at around 6.30am.
A replacement transformer was brought to Skerries on a chartered ferry, with 52 customers regaining power in the afternoon.
However, to connect the new transformer and restore electricity for all 59 customers, the utility has to cut supplies to the whole island for two hours between 5.30 and 7.30pm.
The company said it wished to apologise for any inconvenience caused.
