News / Man rescued from sinking fishing vessel off Sumburgh
A MAN was rescued from a sinking fishing vessel south of Shetland on Friday afternoon.
Shetland Coastguard’s rescue helicopter and the Lerwick lifeboat were tasked at around 2.40pm to attend to the sinking boat ten nautical miles off Sumburgh.
A man, who was the only person onboard, was winched from the vessel.
Other ships in the area at the time assisted the coastguard and lifeboat. The fishing vessel was left to sink.
