Letters / Hope that good sense prevails
At present Shetland’s crofters and farmers receive around £10 million per annum in EU subsidies. Corrected for inflation, that is around £400 million since 1973.
If we wake up on Friday to the news that Cameron’s witless gamble, and the turkey-Christmas-voting behaviour of too many of our fellow British citizens has propelled us out of the European Union, can anyone tell me where else that money might come from?
Add that to the £271 million pounds, which Jonathan Wills indicated as being paid to fisheries, all the Objective one and other EU funds we have received, and are still receiving.
Ask yourself if Farage, Johnson and Gove will match it? Thought not.
Let us hope good sense prevails.
