News / Isles Haven rated ‘very good’
LERWICK’s Isles Haven Nursery has received a positive report after having an unannounced inspection carried out in early June.
The nursery was deemed “very good” in all four categories of quality of care, environment, staffing and management.
This marked an improvement from its last inspection in 2014, which gave the nursery ‘good’ grades.
Care Inspectorate staff praised Isles Haven for its welcoming environment and range of activities for children, its friendly staff and the high standard of care and education.
Ways in which the nursery can improve include more training for staff working with children aged under three and evaluating children’s learning and development.
Shetland Islands Council’s education and families committee chairwoman Vaila Wishart welcomed the report and heralded the progress made by the nursery since it opened a couple of years ago.
“Since the last unannounced inspection in 2014, Isles Haven Nursery has improved from good grades to very good across all inspected areas which is a significant achievement for the service,” she said.
“This report by the Care Inspectorate is a positive endorsement of the service and its approach to early years care and education.”
