News / Jobs go as office supply firm collapses
THREE jobs have been lost after a local office supply firm suffered a massive loss of business as a result of the downturn in the oil industry.
Shetland Office Supplies, based at Gremista, closed its doors on 27 May.
Creditors are now being asked to attend a meeting at the Aberdeen offices of liquidators Begbies Traynor’s offices on Friday (10 June).
The three staff, including director Alan Blair, were made redundant with immediate effect after Ken Pattullo and Kenny Craig of Begbies Traynor were appointed as joint liquidators.
Mr Patullo said: “The hardship that the contraction of the oil and gas sector has experienced is widespread in Scotland, and this is another very clear example of the very real knock on effects being felt right through the Scottish economy.”
