News / Ferries delayed again

GALE force eight westerly winds on Monday afternoon are a timely reminder that winter is not over yet.

Ferry operator Serco NorthLink has said that it would delay the departure of its ferries by up to five and half hours to allow the westerly swell to calm down.

The Hjaltland, scheduled to depart Lerwick for Kirkwall and Aberdeen at 5.30pm will now sail at 11.00pm and head straight for Aberdeen without calling at Kirkwall. Passenger and car check-in times are between 6.00 and 6.30pm.

The ferry is expected to arrive in Aberdeen at 11am on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the northbound ferry Hrossey will depart from Aberdeen at midnight, five hours behind schedule. Check-in times are unchanged at between 5.00 and 6.30pm.

Estimated time of arrival in Lerwick is midday on Tuesday.
