News / Woman charged after cyclist knocked off his bike
A THIRTY six year old woman has been charged with careless driving following an incident where a cyclist was hit by a car and knocked off his bicycle on Tuesday afternoon.
Police attended the incident at the Brig O’ Fitch, just north of Lerwick, at around 2pm.
The man was treated at the roadside before being taken to hospital for treatment. His condition is not believed to be life threatening, but it is believed that he sustained a broken arm and broken leg.
A report on the careless driving charge is to be submitted to the procurator fiscal.
Meanwhile, a 43 year old motorcyclist was also taken to hospital for treatment following yesterday’s collision with a car at Veensgarth. Again the man’s injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
Police enquiries into the matter are ongoing and anyone who may have witnessed the incident – at around 12.30pm on Tuesday – is asked to contact the police by phoning 101.
