Local author Frankie Valente.

A NEW creative writing retreat will take place in Unst later this month.

The weekend event will be held between 15-17 April, with screenwriter Joy Perino Saloschin and local author Frankie Valente acting as tutors.

The retreat, held at the Gardiesfauld Hostel, will juggle lectures, workshops and practical exercises as participants learn how to develop a story concept.

The event is being hosted by Unst Partnership and supported by the UK government’s coastal communities fund.

Unit’s tourism development officer Selina-May Miller said the retreat is open to all abilities.

“The creative writers retreat is something new and such an exciting opportunity to develop anyone’s writing ability,” she said.

“Learn new skills whilst being immersed in the beautiful surroundings of Unst itself.”
