News / Violent drinker
A ROAD worker from Inverness who turned violent after being turfed out of a Lerwick bar has been fined and ordered to do unpaid work.
At Lerwick Sheriff Court on Wednesday, 21 year old Graeme Fox, of 20 Caulfield Place, admitted a string of offences in Lerwick town centre on 23 July.
Procurator fiscal Duncan Mackenzie said Fox went awry after he was escorted out of the Thule Bar by staff and a customer.
He punched the staff member on the head before heading back in to punch another man repeatedly on the head and body and knock a glass out of his hand.
After being successfully ejected, he kicked a nearby car leaving two dents in it, before crossing the road, headbutting a parked van and challenging anyone in the vicinity to fight after taking off his T shirt.
A passer by managed to calm him down after which he went home in a taxi.
Defence agent Tommy Allan said his client was working in Shetland at the time and could not re-member the incident, which was so out of character he thought his drink may have been spiked.
However Sheriff Philip Mann was not persuaded, fining Fox £400 and ordering him to work unpaid for 140 hours.
