News / Man arrested following weapon threat
A TWENTY six year old man has been arrested and charged in connection with an incident where a member of the public was allegedly threatened with an unspecified weapon in Lerwick.
The incident occurred at a King Harald Street bus shelter in the centre of town at around 5.30pm on Friday (5 February), and the 26 year old was charged following a public appeal for witnesses.
A report will be sent to the procurator fiscal, and the man remains in police custody.
Shetland’s chief inspector Lindsay Tulloch said: “Reports of this type of serious crime are uncommon in Shetland and I thank the public for assisting officers with enquiries which have led to the identification and arrest of this man.”
