News / Laundry alight
SEVERAL people will be needing to get new clothing after a fire took hold in the Manson dry cleaners and laundry in Lerwick’s Kantersted Road on Friday morning.
The fire service were called out at 9am to the premises and two appliances raced to the scene around the corner from the Lerwick fire station, only to find the fire had been extinguished.
The crews used a thermal imaging camera to make sure there were no embers still burning and the police are now conducting an investigation into what caused the incident.
A fire service spokesman said the only damage was to a pile of clothing, which is understood to have included a number of coastguard officer jackets.
