News / Fisherman had knife
A FISHERMAN who went out to a nightclub in his work clothes and was found to have a lock knife in his pocket has been fined £400.
Thirty five year old Marvin Inkster, of Hulsidale, Hamnavoe, admitted the offence, which took place at 2.30am on 16 August outside the Poser’s nightclub in Lerwick’s Quendale Lane last year.
Procurator fiscal Duncan Mackenzie said Inkster had been refused entry to the nightclub, and police arrived to find him being restrained outside.
When he was searched a lock knife with a two-inch blade was found.
Defence agent Tommy Allan explained that Inkster, who had sustained a head knock playing in the Parish Cup football final the previous evening, had not intended to go out wearing his work clothes.
His client, who ended up in custody due to a separate incident at the nightclub, accepted that he should not have been carrying the knife. In addition to the fine, the knife has been forfeited.
