News / Eastern Airways emergency
AN EASTERN Airways oil charter flight from Shetland’s Scatsta airport with 31 people on board landed at Aberdeen airport using a single engine sparking an emergency on Wednesday evening.
The airline said the pilot received a cockpit warning indication while en route to Aberdeen regarding one of the plane’s two engines.
“As a precautionary measure, the captain decided to shutdown the affected engine,” a spokesman said.
The Saab 2000 with 28 passengers and three crew on board landed safely in Aberdeen at 7.20pm.
Passengers were able to disembark as normal after the plane had taxied to its parking stand.
The airport fire service was put on standby, but was stood down shortly after the aircraft landed.
“We have launched an investigation and engineers will be inspecting the aircraft,” the airline spokesman said.
